BCA Boutique of the Week is Annalie's Baby Boutique!

Boutique Challenge Auctions is all about a group of designers who come together to challenge each other and help each other step outside of our comfort zones. This week we would like to feature one of our amazing designers so that you can learn more about her and why she does what she does!

This week's Boutique of the Week is Annalie's Baby Boutique!

Let's talk to Hannah from Annalie's Baby Boutique to learn more about her!

How did Annalie's Baby Boutique start?

After my second child was born in 2010, I started to see all these adorable custom baby items in online boutiques, but I couldn't afford most of it.  I've always had a love of creating and sewing, but had never really learned to sew so I borrowed my mother-in-law's 50 year old sewing machine and taught myself.  I had never even threaded a sewing machine before then, so I learned how to do it by watching Youtube videos.  I'd been looking for a way to turn my creativity into a home based business for several years and realized that this was the way to do it.  It started out as a joint business run by me and my sister in August 2010, but she dropped out after about a month and it's been just me ever since.

Who are your favorite fabricdesigners?

I love Michael Miller and Riley Blake!  I am also in love with just about every fabric at Hobby Lobby.

When do you sew?

Whenever I can.  Having young children (my daughter is 4, my son is 2, and I'm expecting #3 in September) means that I don't have a set time to sew.  Thankfully, my children are able to entertain themselves pretty well so I'm able to get some work done when they're awake.  I've heard of many other seamstresses who stay up late every night to sew after their kids go to bed, but I realllllly need my sleep, lol, so I don't do that unless I have an order that needs to go out in the mail right away.

What does Annalie's Baby Boutique mean to you?

It means being able to stay home with my children and having the creative outlet I need.  It can be pretty stressful at times, but I don't regret opening my shop for one second.  The joy of being able to create a beautiful, unique piece of clothing for a child (mine or someone else's) is priceless.  Hearing my 4 year old say with pride, "My mommy made it for me!" when she's complimented on her clothing is so sweet!

Thank you so much Hannah, it was great to learn more about you!
