Boutique of the Week- Bumble Monkey!

Boutique Challenge Auctions is all about a group of designers who come together to challenge each other and help each other step outside of our comfort zones. This week we would like to feature one of our amazing designers so that you can learn more about her and why she does what she does!

This week's Boutique of the Week is Bumble Monkey!

Let's talk to Elizabeth from Bumble Monkey to learn more about her..

I am a stay at home mother of three, ages 6, 5, and 2-we lovingly refer to them as Monkey, Bee and Baby Bear. I learned to sew at a very young age but have only recently taken the time to develop my skills into a business. When I was young, my grandmother owned a fabric shop and I spent a good bit of my time there. My grandmother, mother and aunt are all amazing seamstresses and crafters and I will always cherish the time they spent teaching me. They all continue to support and teach me new things today.  I have sewn for family and friends as well as my own children for as long as I can remember. I have two very dear friends who have let me sew for their girls over the years also. They both kept encouraging me to open a business and sew for others. With support and encouragement from family and friends, I finally took the plunge in September of last year and created BumbleMonkey. This has been an amazing first year of business with lots of ups and downs and lots of learning. My first job is still mommy to my three precious babies, but I love sewing and crafting and I look forward to growing BumbleMonkey even more.

My sewing world: In my dreams, all my fabric, supplies and projects are neatly folded, color coded, organized and stored on beautiful white shelves lined with amazing fabric bins….not really the case in real life! We recently moved. In our old house, I took over the dining room but in our new house, I actually have my own sewing studio! My dad built me a craft and cutting table and I have lots of shelves…not enough to hold my ever growing stash of fabric, but I’ll keep adding more! I work in organized chaos…only I know what all the piles mean! The kids keep me super busy, so I sew when there is down time. This usually means early mornings, late nights and every once in awhile, a nap time if baby bear cooperates!

My favorite tool: rotary cutter. I just recently got my first one and it has changed my life!
My guilty pleasure: Christmas fabric! Mr. BumbleMonkey has banned me from buying more Christmas fabric. I love it! I cannot pass it up! You would not believe the shelves and shelves of Christmas fabric that I have.  If I could sew and sell Christmas outfits all year round, I would!

Future Goal: I would love to create more boys clothes. I love sewing for Bee and will continue as long as she will let me, but I feel like the two boys are a little left out!  I’m on the hunt for some patterns that I like and that Mr. BumbleMonkey approves of. Dads don’t always think boys boutique clothing is “cool”. I’m determined to create something cute enough for my approval and cool enough for the boys in my life!

Special Thanks for a wonderful first year~ Mr. BumbleMonkey, Noni, Tarah & Shelly!!
